And a friend of mine just beat Deponia (literally an hour ago) and thought it was one of the greatest adventure games she has ever played, but then I have other friends who think it is cheesy and annoying, and warn me to stay far, far away from it. I have quite a few adventure games that I have yet to play, but whenever I am looking to play something new, they never seem to be "right". I tried with Cognition (that wasn't exactly horror), and Yesterday (that one was, more or less), but could never get more than a few hours into them without getting bored, or annoyed at either doing the same things over and over, or visiting the same areas over and over (the precinct in Cognition comes to mind. I think the concept is interesting, and I have been looking for an adventure game that is NOT of the horror genre that can keep my attention. That being said, I haven't yet played this game. Otherwise you would end up trying to off them in ever more creative ways (read: The Sims). You have to like the person that the story revolves around to do anything that is in their best interest. Would you play a game with a main character that you didn't (in some way) like? There have been a handful of games that I couldn't stand playing, simply because the protagonist was annoying/airheaded/. So the problem is not that he's a total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but rather that the game often does not seem to know what to do with it.įor me, what Moebius should always feel like is the moment in Venice with Brunetta on the bridge, that had a certain tragic flair that worked well. It was basically two distraction / guard puzzles mixed with bad animations, linearity (where are the multiple solutions?) and well yeah, blatant sexism.īut I can't help it, I think the game rather failed to point out Malachi's behaviour or create anything worthwhile with it. Yeah, I must agree, that really was a low-low-low point of adventure gaming. I played a bit more of Moebius now and right now I'm at the scene where you have to distract that businessman at the speech. I always prefered to stay clear of all of Daedalic's output, mostly because they are so desperately clinging to the past. From what I've seen so far, I'm inclined to agree.įrom what I've seen that Deponia dude was a horrible mixture of unlikeable and a loser with a heart of gold. The reviewer describes in the comment sections how he enjoys misanthropic characters, when they're interesting characters, and he doesn't think that's the case in this game. You probably like the terrible Deponia main character as well, I take it? It's like a mix between preoccupied and slow. That RPS review isn't worth much, as the reviewer obviously was in the mood for destruction and also seems to be quite, in Germany there is a word for it, "bräsig", which means that someone is not willing to let any other ideas others than his on own into his system. I find Malachi's bad manners and arrogance quite refreshing. Look, he's got a guitar he never plays: "Aww, he is just like you, player!" I don't get this at all, what do they want? Another loser with a heart of gold? Like that idiot from The Dream Machine. Haunaballe a écrit :What caught my eye was that most reviewers were obsessed with the idea that a video game character has to be "likeable". You may find it enlightening to see just how much work is involved in funding, developing, and releasing a game:
#Moebius empire rising metacritic series#
We have created a series of articles on our official Tumblr blog that goes over Moebius in detail, often touching upon the important aspects that go into making a video game. We know you can't please everybody, but we are all proud of our work and what we've accomplished thus far as an independent video game company. There are plenty of people out there who are enjoying their time with Moebius, and are able to create feedback based on their own experiences with the game. A lot of work goes into making a game, and working with a team located all across the globe can be challening at times, but we face each challenge with the determination to do our best.

We are constantly striving to better our talents and make the best games that we possibly can. Yes, we have seen the RPS article - I think everyone has by now )ĭo know that we are watching everyone's feedback, and taking note of things that can be worked on.
